Isotretinoin is a medication that treats severe and/or resistant acne. It is only prescribed by dermatologists who have a full understanding of the medical surveillance it requires and its side effects. This treatment, recognised as very effective, causes side effects that are “dose-dependent” and that also vary from one patient to another: rash on the face (especially at the beginning of treatment), sensation of tightness, dry skin, peeling skin, red areas, dry and chapped lips, etc. Living with isotretinoin use may be difficult in terms of aesthetics and feelings. Patients have a tendency to discontinue their treatment because of the relatively intense side effects. That is why to improve the compliance of the treatment, a complementary care is needed.
