FAQ
Your most frequently asked questions about Exfoliating Purifying Gel Cleanser
Oily skin is caused by an overproduction of sebum, the skin’s natural oil. If you have oily skin, you’ll often notice: Shine - your skin becomes increasingly shiny during the day, especially across the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). Visible pores - pores may appear enlarged or more noticeable. Uneven texture - the complexion can look dull, irregular or congested. Blemishes - oily skin is often acne-prone, meaning blackheads, spots and other imperfections are more likely to develop. If these signs sound familiar, you may have oily skin. Using a gentle cleanser for oily skin and non-comedogenic products can help regulate excess oil and keep your skin balanced.
Yes, all the cleansers in the Bioderma Sebium range have been clinically tested to ensure that they are non-comedogenic, this is so they won’t clog or block the pores on your skin.
Very oily skin is usually a result of excessive sebum production. The sebum is also thicker than usual. This means that it is more likely to accumulate under the skin, clogging your pores. To prevent the appearance of pimples and imperfections, it’s therefore essential to cleanse your skin in the morning and evening. Evening cleansing is especially important, even if you don't wear make-up, as pollution, sweat and sebum build up during the day.
Cleansing your face in the morning and evening with a cleanser formulated for oily skin will help prevent the appearance of spots and pimples. Cleansing twice a day is an ideal frequency to manage imperfections while avoiding possible discomfort from over-cleansing, such as dryness, tingling and tightness.
Dermatologists recommend that you don’t wash your face with hot water, regardless of your skin type - including oily and acne-prone skin. Hot water can dry out the skin and dissolve its protective hydrolipidic film. Cold water tightens pores and helps reduce inflammation if you have pimples. However, it is much less effective at removing oily particles of make-up and pollution. We therefore recommend washing your face with lukewarm water.
No, the exact time doesn’t matter. However, it is best to cleanse in the morning when you wake up and before bed. Cleansing in the morning and evening with an adapted product has been proven to be highly effective in helping reduce the appearance of pimples and other imperfections.
